• For the Director’s Merit Scholarship, selection is based on first-year academic performance. The top students in the batch as per CGPA ranking, are chosen. 

• For SC/ST/PwD/Minority/Other Government-backed scholarships: selection depends on satisfying the scheme's eligibility norms such as category, family income limit, disability proof, previous academic performance etc.

• Applications for government scholarships by students have to be timely, usually through some kind of portal, such as a National Scholarship Portal with full adherence to documentation and verification.

Financial Support (Scholarship) for PhD (Doctoral program)

Students receive significant funding throughout the program to assist with personal expenses, continuous research-related expenses and hardware and software requirements supporting research activities.

Below are a few details of the same:

• a complete reimbursement of hostel costs and tuition.

• a stipend of INR 35,000 per month until the comprehensive qualifying exams (CQE) are passed. The monthly stipend will be adjusted to INR 37,000 until the thesis proposal is submitted after passing the CQE and then INR 40,000 until the program's fourth year is over. 

• With the approval of the DAC and the DPR Committee, the monthly stipend support may be extended for a maximum of two additional six-month periods. If two extensions are granted, the stipend will be disbursed until May of the student's fifth year.
