What is Integrated MBA Course?

The term "integrated MBA" means a dual-degree program in which an MBA is the ultimate degree granted with any other graduation degree such as a BBA, BCom and BTech etc may be obtained first.  

A traditional two-year MBA is completed after graduating from any discipline whereas a  integrated MBA program, which is a four or five-year program, requires at least a 12th-grade education. Integrated MBA programs available in the country include BBA + MBA, B.Tech + MBA, BCom + MBA and LLB + MBA and some more. However, in this article we will be focusing only on the BBA+MBA dual degree awarded by top colleges.

BBA+MBA Integrated Program Duration: 

All IIMs and other government colleges including IIFT offer five-year integrated BBA and MBA programs, while some private colleges and universities only offer four-year programs.

Integrated MBA Course Fee:

The cost of the Integrated MBA program is unquestionably higher than that of other postgraduate or integrated programs such as BTech+MTech and LLB+LLM, which makes sense given that it is a fully residential program with majority of faculty being visiting and industry experienced. The cost of the fully residential Integrated five-year BBA MBA program at IIM Indore is Rs 37.26 lakhs.

Integrated MBA Salary:

The integrated MBA salary package depends upon the candidate's ability and the college from which the degree is received. Almost all top colleges are inducting integrated MBA candidates into their regular MBA program after 3 years when they complete their BBA and achieve a certain CGPA. Graduates from IIM Indore’s average salary package is Rs 26.88 LPA whereas IIFT graduates are getting average package of Rs 27.3 LPA

Pros of pursuing an integrated MBA:

There are many pros of doing an integrated MBA program :

• It is easier to pass the entrance exams listed below, such as IPM AT conducted by IIM Indore and Rohtak and JIPMAT conducted by NTA, than it is to pass exams like CAT, which is rotated by top IIMs, XAT conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur, and GMAT conducted by GMAC.

• All students who meet the management's CGPA requirements are accepted into regular MBA programs at the colleges listed below.   

• Students who receive a BBA degree after three years of management study are better equipped than others to understand the various topics because they already have basic knowledge of them.

• Students who are pursuing an MBA from the same institute where they spent three years are more at ease than others and are familiar with almost everything about the college.

Factors to consider before choosing the course or college:

• Students should be very interested in studying management; while most colleges allow students to drop out after three years of pursuing a BBA degree, there are very few job/study opportunities after graduating from a BBA program other than management. In the case of a traditional two-year MBA, if you want to leave management, you can still pursue a master's degree in the field from which you graduated.

• Because five years is a long time for anyone to stay in one place, it is advisable to get all the information about the city, weather, hotel facilities and mess etc.

Entrance examinations for the Integrated MBA BBA Course:

Though there are many institutes conducting entrance examinations for admission into the BBA MBA integrated course, the most reputed exam is IPMAT conducted by IIM Indore, scores from this exam are accepted by IIFT, IIM Ranchi, IIM Amritsar and Nirma University. Other famous entrance exams are  IPMAT Rohtak and JIPMAT by NTA for IIM Jammu and IIM Bodhgaya. Some other important entrance examinations are NPAT by NMIMS Mumbai, SET by Symbiosis University and the Christ University Entrance Test for admission into their integrated MBA programs.
