The National Testing Agency administers a national entrance exam called the Common Management Admission Test or CMAT in short. In November 2025 the CMAT 2026 dates will be revealed. Online registration will take place between November and December of 2025. It is anticipated that the test will take place in January 2026.

What is CMAT Exam?

CMAT Exam 2026 is an internet based computer test that is designed to assess the business sense of the candidates. All AICTE-approved institutions across India accept scores of CMAT. According to the 2025 exam an average of 75000 candidates are expected to take the test each year across 107 testing locations.

There will likely be 100 MCQs spread across five sections on the CMAT 2026 entrance exam.

CMAT 2026 Eligibility

CMAT 2026 eligibility criteria are as follows-

  • Academic Qualification - Bachelor's degree in any subject from a recognised university. Final-year candidates can also apply. No minimum percentage is required but some MBA colleges may require 45–50%.

  • Age Limit - No upper-age bar for applicants.

  • Nationality: This exam is only open to Indian students.

  • Program- Specific Eligibility 

    • Executive PGDM - Graduation plus minimum 5 years of experience

    • PGCM - Graduation in any discipline

    • PGDM or MBA - Bachelor’s degree in any discipline

CMAT Exam 2026 Registration 

Step 1 Online Registration

  • Move and open the CMAT website in a new browser window.

  • Click the link for registration of CMAT.

  • Enter personal and contact details.

  • Type in the OTP received on your mobile number and submit.

  • You will be allotted a 12 digit application number.

Step 2 Finish the CMAT application

  • Fill in your number of application and password to log in.

  • Enter your personal information, academic information and test city preferences.

  • Verify all the entries and submit the form.

Step 3 Add Documents

  • Upload a passport-sized photo, your signature and any applicable PwD certificates.

Step 4 Pay the application fee

  • Pay online via Paytm, UPI, net banking or a debit or credit card.

  • Ensure paying correct fee as per your category.

Step 5 Select Test City

  • Choose up to 4 preferred test cities from the 124 available.

  • Be careful once submitted the test city cannot be changed.

  • The admit card will display the final test city and centre.

Documents required-

  • Intermediate and highschool mark sheets

  • Graduation mark sheet

  • Category certificate if applicable

  • PwD/DA certificate if applicable

  • Recent passport-size photo

  • Signature on a plane white paper

Important points-

  • Confirmation is generated only after fee payment.

  • Verify everything one last time before submitting as changes cannot be made after submitted.

  •  The following browser versions are suggested - Microsoft Edge v88–113, Google Chrome v88–113 and Mozilla Firefox v94–112.

  •  Smartphones are not advised instead laptops or desktop computers should be utilised.

Exam Pattern for CMAT 2026 

  • Mode - Computer-Based Test Online

  • Time frame -  Three hours

  • There are 100 questions in total.

  • The marking scheme is plus four for right answers and minus one for incorrect ones.

  •  400 total points will be awarded in the CMAT exam.

  1. Go to the CMAT official site- https://cmat.nta.nic.in/ 

  2. Go to the 2026 CMAT 2026 Hall Ticket page.

  3. Enter your DOBand Number of application.

  4. Click "Submit" to enter.

  5. Fill out the self-declaration form.

  6. After downloading save the hall ticket of CMAT in PDF format.

How Can I Download My CMAT 2026 Answer Key? 

The National Testing Agency will release the CMAT 2026 answer key as a response sheet. Candidates will have 2–3 days to raise any objections if needed.To download it take these actions:

  1. Go to https://cmat.nta.nic.in/ the official CMAT website. 

  2. Select "Login" from the menu.

  3. Enter your DOB, number of application and password.

  4. The CMAT Exam 2026 key of answers will be available for download.

Steps in the CMAT 2026 Admission Process

Stage 1 - CMAT Exam Result
CMAT 2026 results will be announced online on the official website of CMAT-NTA. Scorecards can be downloaded by candidates after the announcement.

Stage 2 - Preparing the Merit List

The CMAT 2026 test results are used to create the list of merit for admission to management institutes.

Stage 3 - Group Discussion
Shortlisted candidates are called for the Group Discussion round at their chosen colleges. GD is a standard part of the admission process.

Stage 4 - Personal Interview & Writing Ability Test
The PI and WAT rounds will be attended by candidates who make it through the GD stage. These rounds assess a candidate’s communication, analytical and writing skills.

Stage 5 - Final Admission
The last intake is offered on the basis of performance in GD, PI, WAT, academic background and work experience if applicable. Shortlisted candidates will be offered admission and have to pay the fee within the stipulated time frame to secure their seats.
