The XAT 2026 exam was conducted on 4 January 2026 and its pattern and difficulty level were similar to the one conducted last year. Due to this, experts do not expect a major increase in XAT cut offs for this year. In India, about 800 MBA schools accept the scores of XAT exam. Some of the top colleges accepting XAT scores include XLRI, XIMB, KJ Somaiya and TAPMI.
The result for XAT 2026 is anticipated on 8 January 2026. After the declaration of results, the admission procedure for XAT accepting institutions shall begin. Selection for the PI and WAT phases shall be done on the basis of XAT 2026 cut off percentiles announced by the concerned institutions at the time of application and PI selection.

Parameters Determining XAT 2026 Cut Offs
There are a number of parameters which help determine the cut-off for XAT every year. These major parameters have been explained below -
Level of paper difficulty - This is the most important parameter among them. If the paper is tough cut offs usually go down. If the paper is easier cut offs tend to rise.
Number of candidates who appeared - Around 1.42 lakh students have applied for XAT 2026 which is an increase from last year. The more students sit for an exam the higher the cut off will be.
Number of candidates who qualify - If more candidates qualify this increases the competition and thereby results in higher cut offs.
Number of seats available - Institutes having limited seats like XLRI tend to maintain a higher cut-off compared to institutes having a large number of seats.
What Constitutes a Good XAT Score in 2026?
A good XAT score depends on the college and the category of the candidate. Based on past trends –
34 to 36+ marks - Very strong score
30 to 33 marks - Competitive for many top MBA colleges
22 to 29 marks – Chances with tier-2 and tier-3 institutes
For XLRI Jamshedpur, candidates usually need a high overall score along with sectional cut-offs
