What impacts XAT cut-offs?

XLRI fixes its cut-off scores based on several factors.  One major factor is the candidate's background.  Hence the cut-offs are also not the same for engineering and non-engineering students.  Additionally, male and female candidates may also have different cut-offs.  This allows the college to have different types of students.

Here are the main things that influence the XAT cut-off:

  • How many people take the XAT exam

  • How tough the exam is

  • How many seats are available in the college

  • What are the average and highest scores that year

  • The overall performance of candidates in that year's XAT

  • Cut off trends from previous years

  • Average scores based on gender

  • Average scores based on academic background (like engineering or arts)

Also, different colleges accepting XAT scores may use their own methods to set cut-offs for their MBA programs.
