IIM Bodh Gaya MBA 2026 - 28 Batch Records 65% Non-Engineering Students

IIM Bodh Gaya has welcomed its MBA 2026 - 28 batch with a majority of students coming from non-engineering backgrounds, highlighting the growing academic diversity in management education. The institute began its ten-day Orientation Program 2026 by welcoming students from fields such as commerce, pharmacy, humanities, life sciences and healthcare.

The flagship MBA batch consists of 293 aspirants, including 69 women, 224 men and three international aspirants. Among them, 64.85 per cent are from non-engineering disciplines, while 35.15 per cent have engineering backgrounds. The candidates represent 23 States and Union Territories, making the batch geographically diverse.

The new cohort also includes a healthy mix of fresh graduates and experienced professionals. A total of 114 candidates have prior work experience, with an average of 24.13 months in the industry. The batch features students with notable accomplishments in academics, research, sports, innovation, cultural pursuits and community service, the institute said. 

IIM Bodh Gaya's MBA in Digital Business and AI program has inducted 96 students, comprising 26 women and 70 men, from 19 States and Union Territories.  Around 27.01 per cent of the students have prior work experience. According to the institute, the program maintains a healthy balance of engineering and non-engineering graduates to promote cross-disciplinary learning in digital business and Artificial Intelligence. 

The Hospital and Healthcare Management MBA program has welcomed 86 candidates, comprising 16 women and 70 men, representing 20 States and Union Territories. The batch includes students from life sciences, engineering, pharmacy, healthcare and related fields. About 18.06 per cent of the students have previous industry experience.

IIM Bodh Gaya has also inducted 18 PhD scholars and 40 EMBA students alongside its MBA admissions. The orientation program will feature faculty interactions, industry expert sessions, alumni talks, mentoring, team-building activities, case study workshops and other academic events.

Meanwhile, IIM Kozhikode has also welcomed a diverse MBA batch this year. The institute admitted 599 candidates across its three full-time MBA programs, with 59 per cent coming from non-engineering backgrounds. In its flagship MBA program, 57 per cent of the students are non-engineers, while 329 of the 499 candidates are women, raising female representation to 66 percent the highest ever recorded for a flagship MBA program at the institute.
