The Department of Institute of Management Studies at Banaras Hindu University (IMS-BHU) offers management programs at the postgraduate, diploma and doctoral level, namely MBA, MBA International Business, MBA Agri-business, Financial Management, Foreign Trade, Healthcare Management and PhD programs. Admissions are based on CAT scores, CUET, PET, CRET or institute-specific selection processes such as Group Discussion and Interviews. BHU MBA Eligibility Criteria 2026 

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications given below -  

• A bachelor's degree under the 10+2+3 pattern with minimum 50% of marks in aggregate.

• A degree in Agriculture, Technology, Medicine, Education or Law with minimum 50% of marks in aggregate.

• A postgraduate degree in any stream under the 10+2+3 pattern with minimum 50% of marks in aggregate.

• The degree should be from a University/ Institution recognised by AIU or AICTE.

• The candidates belonging to the SC or ST category need 45% of marks in aggregate.

BHU MBA Selection Process 2026

The entry to MBA and MBA International Business (MBA-IB) programs at the Institute of Management Studies (IMS), BHU is based on the candidate's overall CAT score, academic performance, group discussion and personal interview.

Stage 1 - CAT Examination

Candidates have to appear for the CAT entrance examination organised by IIMs and can also apply individually for the MBA and MBA IB through the BHU admission portal. CAT score is awarded 50% weightage in the selection process.

Stage 2 - Group Discussion and Personal Interview

Candidates who have scored well in the CAT exam will be called for the GD & PI process at BHU. GD and PI will hold 15% weightage each, making a total of 30% weightage. Candidate needs to be present for both.

Academic Record Weightage

Performance in Academics like High School, Intermediate and Graduation carries a weightage of 20% in the final merit list. While submitting the application form candidates will be asked to enter their academic details.

Final Merit List

The final selection is based on the following components -

Institute of Management BHU Admission and Counselling 

Candidates will be called for counselling according to their merit rank. Admission will be offered based on merit rank, eligibility, document verification and number of available seats. Selected candidates are required to deposit original documents and the admission fee within the given time to confirm their seat.
