IIM Shillong offers various post graduate programmes (MBA / PGP), each with a customised curriculum targeted to the profile of the participants, their work experience and time span. The two-year (MBA Full Time - PG Program) is for candidates with reduced work experience or fresh graduates. There is the PGPEx (a full-time one-year executive programme for professional managers) and the Working Executives Programme (WEP), which is a two-year, non-residential programme intended for professionals with a minimum five years experience. IIM Shillong IPM program is a five-year integrated management program for students who want to pursue management education after their 10+2 education. The first three years are for a BBA component, with a strong foundation in liberal management education, across five learning streams: Data & Decision Making; Money, Markets & Economics; Behaviour & Management of Businesses; Intelligent Enterprise & Analytics; Indian Knowledge Systems.

Core, Cognate, Modular courses: theory + practice blended; experiential modules; reflective practice; internships; modular courses to encourage immersive and hands-on learning.

Note: 4th and 5th year of IPM Program correspond to the master’s component (MBA) and follow a trimester-based system aligned with IIM Shillong’s PGP in order to maintain consistency.

IIM Shillong Doctoral Programs

Key Features of IIM Shillong Doctoral Program Syllabus (Full-time Residential)

Research and study are conducted after a planned classroom session in the Doctoral (Residential) Program. Syllabus includes Research Relevant Courses (76 credits) spanning multiple terms.
Phase I (Year 1): Term I – Foundation courses (essential courses like Data Modelling & Visualisation; Financial Reporting & Analysis; Managerial Economics; Marketing Management; Self & Group Dynamics; Statistics for Decision Making; Sustainability & Business 1), Term II – Business Environment & Flexi courses, Term III – Intermediate doctoral courses. After this, a Comprehensive Qualifying Exam (CQE) is required.
Phase II (Year 2): Advanced-level courses + Seminar courses;

The Doctoral WP (Working Professionals) Program is tailored to suit scholars in the workforce to pursue the doctorate. The course design is the same (coursework, CQE, research) but scheduling is varied to be flexible.

Credit Structure & Contact Hours: The minimum two-year credit requirement for PGP/MBA (2025–27) is 146 credits (core + internship + electives), with 82 credits for core.

Electives & Bidding: In the second year of PGP, electives are floated over several clusters and students select through open bidding. Students are given flexibility to match electives to their subjects of interest. The PGPEx and PGPWE curricula comprise workshops, lab sessions, and immersion.
