IIM Amritsar MBA admission is one of the most sought-after courses, with thousands of aspirants applying for it. 

But very few candidates get an IIM Amritsar calls out for an interview and final selection by IIM Amritsar.

IIM Amritsar Eligibility Criteria 2026 

MBA / MBA-BA / MBA-HR Eligibility 

• Bachelor’s degree of a minimum 3-year duration from a recognised university
  Minimum  overall CAT percentile – General/EWS: 90%, NCOBC – 80%, SC– 55%, ST/PwD – 40%

• Valid CAT 2025 score

• Final-year students may apply provisionally.

Executive MBA Eligibility 

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with consistent academic performance.

•  The candidate needs to have at least 3 years of work experience. This experience should be in a managerial, entrepreneurial, or professional role. You must meet this requirement by May 31, 2025. This experience should come after you finish your graduation.

• Valid CAT / GMAT score or institute-specific test

• Designed for working professionals.

IPM Eligibility 

• Age – Candidates must be born on or after 1 July 2005. This means they can be a maximum of 20 years old as of 1 July 2025.

• Eligibility – The candidate must have passed Standard XII/HSC or an equivalent exam in 2024. They should also be taking the exam in 2025 with Mathematics or Applied Mathematics as a required subject.

Note: Candidates must get at least 60 per cent in standard X/SSC. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the minimum is 55 percent. They also need to meet the same requirements for standard XII/HSC or equivalent exams.

PhD Eligibility

The applicant must possess one of the following qualifications:

• The candidate will need a first-class bachelor’s degree (4 years) or a master’s degree in any field. The minimum CGPA should be 6.5 or higher.

• Aspirants can also qualify with a professional degree like CA, ICWA, CS, or CFA Level II (USA). This should be paired with a graduate degree in a related area. They need at least 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent GPA.

Note: Candidates who will be in their final year of a master's or bachelor's degree program and are taking exams during the application year can apply.

Post-doctoral Fellowship Program Eligibility

Candidates for the postdoctoral fellowships must have an outstanding academic track record, demonstrated research potential, and an intent to conduct original research at IIM Amritsar.

The following are the minimum eligibility criteria-

•  candidates who have obtained a PhD degree (or equivalent) from institutions of high repute, such as Central Universities, IIMs, IITs, IISERs, IISc Bangalore, NITIE Mumbai or other globally recognised Indian or foreign institutions.

Note – The age limit for the candidates is 40 years (relaxable by 5 years for female and reserved category candidates).

Stage 1- It is common practice to identify all candidates who appear in the CAT 2025 test. who will be invited for a Personal Interview (PI). The shortlist of candidates who have exceeded the cut-offs (percentile thresholds) for each section and/or overall in CAT 2025 is the initial shortlist. For CAT 2025, only candidates who have a positive raw score in each section are considered eligible.

Note – Further processing for PI/WAT is only done for those who are selected from this initial shortlist.

Minimum Eligibility requirements for the IIM Amritsar MBA batch of 2026-2028

Below are the minimum percentile cut-off scores fixed for the first shortlist based on IIM Amritsar CAT cutoff 2025 for the MBA batch 2026-2028

Stage 2: Personal Interview (PI)

• The Personal Interview (PI) is the second step in the selection process.

• The panel will assess each candidate's educational background, level of work experience, and other personal qualities during the interview.

• The post-PI score for each candidate is computed on the basis of the sum of scores secured on applying the following weights:

 (a) Personal Interview (PI – 70%,

 (b) experience – 10% 

(c) Gender diversity – 10%, 

(d) Academic diversity – 10%.

Pre-PI scores and post-PI scores, with due weightages, will be taken cumulatively in the final phase to shortlist the candidates for the program

Note – The following formula is used to determine each candidate's aggregate composite score –

Total Score = 0.7 X Pre-PI Score + 0.3 X Post-PI Score

The final ranking list of applicants for admission to the MBA program in 2026 will be determined by the total score.
