Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that IIM Bangalore will establish its first international campus in Indonesia. The announcement was made during his official visit to Jakarta following bilateral discussions with Prabowo Subianto.

With this expansion, IIM Bangalore will become the second IIM to set up an overseas campus. IIM Ahmedabad was the first, having already established an international campus in Dubai, UAE.
During the visit, India and Indonesia signed nearly a dozen bilateral agreements, including one to establish the IIM Bangalore Indonesia campus. The agreements are aimed at strengthening cooperation across key sectors such as technology, food security, healthcare and pharmaceuticals and maritime security.
Highlights of the New IIM Bangalore Campus in Indonesia
According to reports, the new IIM Bangalore international campus is expected to be established in the Singhasari Special Economic Zone located in Malang, East Java. PM Narendra Modi said that the campus will create new opportunities for students and young professionals across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations region by providing access to world-class management education.
In its initial phase, the campus will focus on executive education, offering short-term courses and professional training for senior executives, industry leaders and government officials. After the first two years of operation, the institute plans to introduce full-time degree programs. The curriculum is expected to cover emerging fields such as healthcare management, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, climate and sustainability and global supply chain management.
The establishment of the overseas campus reflects the strengthening partnership between India and Indonesia. During the visit, both countries also signed several agreements to expand cooperation in sectors including healthcare, space exploration, defence, technology and innovation.
