The Indian Institute of Management Amritsar has announced the procedure for admission into its MBA class of 2026. This applies to applicants from all categories of students including General, NC-OBC, SC, ST, EWS and PwD.
Criteria for selection and the weightage given to various parameters are determined annually by IIM Amritsar before the CAT test to ensure that the selection is fair, transparent and objective.

How IIM Amritsar Evaluates Candidates
IIM Amritsar follows a composite score method of evaluation. Candidates are analysed through various parameters such as -
CAT 2025 sectional and overall scores
High School marks
Intermediate marks
Bachelors marks
Quality of work experience
Gender diversity
Academic diversity
It is necessary that candidates fill in their academic qualifications meticulously. If anything wrong or misleading is provided by candidates it will be considered an instance of misrepresentation of facts. This may lead to rejection. The institute’s decision in such cases will be final.
IIM Amritsar MBA 2026 - Eligibility Criteria
IIM Amritsar MBA course is of two years and is a full time residential program. There are some criteria for applying which the candidates are required to fulfill -
Bachelor's degree with marks not below 50 percent or equivalent CGPA.
The minimum percentage needed for candidates from the SC, ST and PWD categories is 45 percent.
IIM Amritsar Eligibility for Final Year Students
Applicants who are in the final year of their graduation are eligible for the job. For applicants of the above category -
Marks will be considered up to one year before the final examination
Every graduation requirement has to be met by 30 June 2026
Minimum graduation marks according to CAT 2025 criteria have to be fulfilled
IIM Amritsar Selection Criteria 2026
The MBA entrance process at IIM Amritsar is carried out in two steps -
Stage 1 - Shortlisting candidates for the Personal Interview (PI)
Stage 2 - Final admission on the basis of overall performance
Stage 1 - CAT 2025-Based Shortlisting for Personal Interview
The process begins with all candidates who appear for the CAT 2025 exam being shortlisted for a personal interview phase at IIM Amritsar. This is done only for candidates who -
Score positive raw marks in all sections of CAT.
Sectional as well as overall percentiles meet the minimum cut off requirements for shortlisting for the Personal Interview round.
Minimum CAT 2025 Cut-Offs for IIM Amritsar MBA Program
Note - The lower cutoffs are applicable to SC, ST and Persons with Disability candidates as per reservation policy for IIM Amritsar. Only those candidates will be considered for the shortlist who clear these lower cutoffs.

Normalisation of Academic Scores at IIM Amritsar
For shortlisted candidates of Stage one at IIM Amritsar -
Class 10 and Class 12 scores are normalised for the board.
Every score is normalised by dividing it by the score at the 90th percentile for that particular board.
Graduation Marks Conversion at IIM Amritsar
Passing marks are translated into scores based on a fixed scale that is followed by Amritsar for shortlisting candidates for the next rounds of the MBA course 2026
Note - In cases where final graduation results are not available the highest possible results available are used. The CGPA calculation is converted into percentages in accordance with university guidelines.
IIM Amritsar Pre-PI Score Calculation for MBA Program 2026
The Pre-PI score calculation is done in IIM Amritsar for the MBA program based on the following weightage -
Note - Based on the Pre-PI score candidates are ranked and a suitable number are called for the Personal Interview round at IIM Amritsar for its MBA program.

Stage 2 - Personal Interview and Final Evaluation at IIM Amritsar
In the second phase the shortlisted candidates proceed for the Personal Interview. In this process the Personal attributes, Quality of work experience, Academic background and Communication skills of the applicants are assessed by the Personal Interview Board.
IIM Amritsar Post-PI Score Weightage
IIM Amritsar Final Composite Score Calculation 2026
In IIM Amritsar both Pre and Post-PI scores count for the MBA admission process of the year 2026.
Final Aggregate Score Formula -
Aggregate Score = (0.7 × Pre-PI Score) + (0.3 × Post-PI Score)
The criteria and weightages are similar for all categories. Qualified candidates are selected at each stage to satisfy the reservations demanded by IIM Amritsar.

The Institute of Integrated Management Amritsar has the right to alter the admission procedure subject to the approval of the admissions committee of the IIMs.
