DoMs IIT Madras History

The department of management studies IIT Madras was established in 2004 to provide a home for the popular Master of Business Administration course that has been offered since August 2001. In 2013, it became the first IIT to welcome students from non-engineering courses such as BA, B Sc and B Com. In addition to the MBA curriculum, the department provides Master's and Doctoral level research programs and an Executive MBA program for middle and senior executives.

The department also works with IIM Calcutta and IIT Kanpur on a multi-institutional Diploma program for Visionary Leaders in Manufacturing (PGPEX - VLM). Other activities of the Department include consulting and executive development programs.

• A valid score in the CAT conducted by Indian Institutes of Management.

• Graduates with professional qualifications equivalent to a university degree from a UGC recognised institution, in any discipline with First Class or 60% marks or 55% for SC, ST and PwD categories from a renowned or reputed university.

• Final-year students from the participating colleges can also apply. If they are selected they will get provisional admission. They must complete all degree requirements before the program begins and submit a provisional certificate within two months of joining.

DOMS IIT Madras Scholarship

Scholarships at DoMS IIT Madras are granted based on family income and academic performance. Tuition fees for the two-year program are approximately 8.5 lakhs, while total expenses, including hostels and programs abroad reach about 14 lakhs. DOMS IIT Madras Campus

IIT Madras is a residential institute and the students stay in hostels. There are 20 hostels named after major rivers in India. There are 15 hostels for male students and 5 for females.

Amenities for hostels include a garden, a library for borrowing books, washing machines and basic sports facilities. Also provided for pupils are music, technology and television rooms.  Most hostel meetings occur in common spaces. The festivals of Holi, Pongal, Onam, Diwali and New Year Eve are celebrated by students. Every year each hostel holds a hostel night complete with food and music it also doubles as a farewell to graduating students.
