For developing technology professionals into tomorrow's Renaissance Leaders and to keep pace with the changing scenario, IIT Bombay initiated its management school in 1995. In honour of Dr. Shailesh J. Mehta a renowned IIT Bombay graduate the institution was renamed the Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management in 2000. Shortlisting criteria of IIT Bombay for MBA program

Applicants for the Master of Business Administration - MBA Program 2025-27 cohort shall be chosen in two stages:

• In the first step, the eligible candidates based on the criteria specified above will be shortlisted for personal interviews based on CAT 2025 performance, academics and professional experience among other criteria. 

• In the second step candidates will be selected based on a composite score that includes their CAT 2025 score, academics, work experience and interview scores.

IIT Bombay Scholarship

Students of IDDDP in the fifth year at IIT Bombay are entitled to a Teaching Assistantship. Students with a CPI of 8.0 and above score receive ₹12400 per month. Students with a CPI of 6.0-7.99 receive ₹6000 per month. In case the CPI drops below 6.0 departments can think of cutting support from ₹2000 to ₹4000 depending upon the assigned job. The TAship is remunerated for 12 months or to the day of defence whichever comes first. Students need to provide a certificate and monthly attendance report from their department to verify satisfactory assistance.
