AP ICET 2025: Marks Normalisation Process

Why Normalisation?

AP ICET is held in several sessions and each session will have a variable level of difficulty. Normalisation guarantees equity by scaling marks so that no candidate is disadvantaged or advantaged by the difficulty of the session.

Who else employs this?

National exams like CAT, JEE (Main), GATE etc. also use the same normalisation techniques.

How Normalisation Works:

The normalised score that is obtained with the help of the formula provided below is determined by:

Normalised Marks =

GMS +

((Top Avg Global – GMS) / (Top Avg Session – SMS)) × (Your Score – SMS)

Where: Term Meaning

  • SMS Average + Standard Deviation of your session.

  • All sessions' GMS Average + Standard Deviation.

  • The average score of the top 0.1% of candidates in your session.

  • The top 0.1% of candidates in each session received the highest average global scores.
