For 2025 MAT top MBA colleges are expected to keep their cutoffs between 80 to 95 percentile while mid-tier private business schools usually set their cutoffs between 70 to 80 percentile. These cutoffs are employed to shortlist candidates for subsequent admission rounds like Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

While some colleges utilise the composite score and even sectional scores to shortlist candidates others utilise the overall MAT score. So candidates targeting 2025 MAT should check the cutoff range of their preferred colleges while preparing.

MAT Cut Off 2025 – Expected Percentile for Best MBA Colleges

MAT CutOff 2025 Key Factors

The cutoff is the same for all exam modes which are CBT and PBT. This means a 95 percentile in CBT is treated the same as 95 percentile in PBT. If you take MAT more than once you can use your best score for MBA admission.

The following are the primary elements that determine the cutoff -

  • The total range of test-takers' percentile scores

  • Difficulty of the exam paper.

  • Previous years’ MAT cutoff trends

  • Number of seats available in the colleges for the MBA program.

Important Points About MAT Cut Offs

  • Percentile based cutoffs are used.

  • Since AIMA doesn't declare cutoffs each college makes its own

  • The first stage in shortlisting applicants for GD and PI is to set cutoffs.

  • A good score is one that falls between 600 and 650 range.
