The conference was organized under the theme: Information Asymmetry in the Information Age Markets, Economy & People. The conference was organized by Uruppika, the Centre of Excellence in Macroeconomics, Banking and Finance at IIM Kozhikode. The conference was organized to bring together policymakers, regulators, bankers, market experts and academicians to share their perspectives on how the imbalance of information affects financial markets.
The conference began with the opening remarks of Amarjeet Singh, Whole-Time Member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India, Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO of the National Stock Exchange of India and Mridul Kumar Saggar, Head of Uruppika at IIM Kozhikode.
Panel discussions focused on the evolving nature of information gaps in financial markets in the digital era.
According to Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode, Digital technology is transforming the finance sector. It is not only important to use information effectively but also to provide equal access to information.
Ashishkumar Chauhan stated that although information is readily available in the current scenario, information gaps still persist. These information gaps have become more complex and technology-driven.
The conference concluded with a valedictory session, which was conducted by Injeti Srinivas, Chairperson of the National Stock Exchange of India and former Chairperson of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA).
This annual conference is organized jointly by IIM Kozhikode and NSE to address important issues in macroeconomics, financial regulation and financial markets.
