IIM Jammu Conducts 6-day Supervisory Development Program for NHPC Supervisors

The Indian Institute of Management Jammu started a Supervisory Development Program (SDP) for selected officials of NHPC, a Navratna Company of the Government of India, on January 19, 2026. The program will continue until January 24, 2026. The Supervisory Development Program started officially with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony.

IIM Jammu Conducts 6-day Supervisory Development Program for NHPC Supervisors

Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean of Faculty and Research at IIM Jammu, chaired this inaugural session. The Program Directors Prof. Pranab Ranjan Das, Dr. Eshika Aggarwal and Dr. Garima Saini were also present at this ceremony along with other Institute officials and faculty members. This training activity had 20 participants coming from different parts of the country and were working as supervisors in NHPC.

Dr. Jabir Ali, Professor and Dean of Faculty & Research, IIM Jammu, spoke about how IIM Jammu regularly conducts capacity development programs for PSUs like SAIL, NHPC and NTPC. According to him, it’s imperative to integrate management acumen along with sufficient technical competency, especially in the case of engineers. While concluding his talk, Dr. Ali urged students to make themselves best equipped by utilising this six-day opportunity to good effect by learning as much as they can outside their classroom activities as well.

Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu, started by mentioning the association that IIM Jammu has had with NHPC and stated that this program is an attempt to add value to their participant members. He informed them about the institute’s infrastructure, including the Nalanda Library. He also encouraged them to interact with students and learn from one another. He further added that the Open MDP Programs conducted by IIM Jammu provide an opportunity to learn from people from other functions and that this particular program has been modified keeping in mind the necessity from NHPC’s perspective.

Prof. Pranab Ranjan Das, Program Director of IIM Jammu, clarified that this program was designed with consultation from NHPC to meet the growing demands of its officials as supervisors and leaders. Apparently, NHPC acknowledges the latent potential of their own employees and this program is one such step to ready them for larger roles, according to Prof. Pranab Ranjan Das.

The program started with a welcome address by Dr. Garima Saini, Program Director of IIM Jammu. The attendees welcomed her and she formally started the program by greeting them. The attendees introduced themselves and their expectations from the program.

The first session was followed by the Vote of Thanks from Dr. Eshika Aggarwal, Program Director, IIM Jammu, followed by the National Anthem. The training activity was conducted under the execution of the Executive Education and Consultancy of the IIM Jammu.
