IIM Ahmedabad Launches Mattu Centre for Research in Security Pricing and Corporate Finance

The centre will conduct research in areas such as asset pricing, corporate finance, corporate governance and financial economics. It will also develop comprehensive financial databases to support empirical studies on Indian capital markets. The initiative aims to bring together academicians, industry professionals, regulators and policymakers to address evolving challenges in India’s financial sector.

The centre has been established with philanthropic support from Ravi Mattu, an IIMA alumnus from the PGP 1979 batch and former Managing Director and Global Head of Analytics at Pacific Investment Management Co.

IIMA Director Professor Bharat Bhasker said that the centre will play an important role in tackling key challenges in India's financial markets by building strong research capabilities and developing reliable India-focused databases. He added that the centre will help nurture future researchers, professionals and regulators while strengthening the analytical framework of the financial ecosystem.

Ravi Mattu stated that the centre will promote joint research between Indian and international finance faculty, encourage discussions with regulators, support young researchers and lead the creation of a comprehensive securities price database.

The centre will organise seminars, conferences, workshops and expert lectures to encourage interaction among researchers, business leaders and policymakers. Its research activities will cover areas including investments, market microstructure, corporate finance and governance with a focus on producing impactful academic work addressing real-world issues faced by companies, investors and regulators.

The governing council of the centre will be led by Professor Bharat Bhasker as Chairperson. It will include Professors Joshy Jacob and Ellapulli Vasudevan as co-chairpersons, along with Ravi Mattu, former IIM Bangalore faculty member; Professor R Narayanaswamy, NYU Stern School of Business Associate Professor; Vaidyanathan Venkateswaran and Rajan Raju, Director of Invespar Pte Ltd.
