Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) MBA Introduction

For many decades, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has made an important contribution to management education in India. It all started in 1965 when the first program, called a one-year Diploma in Business Administration, was introduced under the Department of Commerce. Then in 1969, this course developed into a three-year part-time Diploma in Business Management (DBM). However, in 1972, this three-year program became an MBA, which meant that a separate Department of Business Administration was created. In the same year, this MBA was upgraded from part-time to a two-year full-time course. Furthermore, a PhD program in business administration was introduced at that time.

In the following years, the Department of Business Administration continued to introduce new programs that were tailored to meet the growing needs of the business environment. Thus, in 1984, it offered postgraduate diploma courses. In 1993, a two-year Master's course on International Business was introduced. Also, a one-year postgraduate diploma course in Islamic banking and finance appeared in 2010. Continuing its tradition of innovation, the department offered two types of MBA: Islamic Banking & Finance and Hospital Administration. These MBA programs were offered in 2019.

The Department is presently offering the courses of MBA, MBA (International Business), MBA (Islamic Banking & Finance), and MBA (Hospital Administration), besides the usual PhD program in Business Administration, under the umbrella of the Faculty of Management Studies & Research (FMSR). It has also undertaken a program called the Executive Doctoral Program in cooperation with the All India Management Association (AIMA). The program targets professionals like executives, managers, academicians, government employees, and defense forces. The program has become very popular and brought prestige to the department in terms of advanced research in management studies.

• Eligibility Criteria: For MBA admission, candidates must have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in any three-year bachelor's degree from a recognised university. Reserved category candidates are eligible with 45% aggregate marks.

• Online Application Form: The candidate needs to fill up and submit an online application form through the Online Application Processing System of the university with all the necessary documents and fees.
