For CAT 2026, IIM Indore is expected to be the conducting IIM as per the rotation cycle among BLACKI IIMs. CAT 2026 is tentatively scheduled for 29 November 2026. Candidates can expect the application window to open in early August and continue till the second week of September. Applicants are advised to keep an eye on the official website for the latest updates regarding the notification and registration schedule.
Important Changes in CAT Over the Past Five Years
Over the past five years, the IIMs have consistently increased the CAT registration fee. Apart from changes in the registration fee, the CAT examination has also seen revisions in the number of questions and the conducting IIM over the years. Based on recent trends, the CAT 2026 exam pattern is expected to remain unchanged, comprising 68 questions to be completed in 120 minutes.
Based on previous years' trends, the CAT 2026 registration fee is expected to increase by ₹100, taking it to ₹2700 for General category candidates and ₹1350 for applicants belonging to the Reserved categories. The examination pattern is also likely to remain unchanged, featuring 68 questions divided among Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. Additionally, CAT 2026 is expected to retain the 40-minute sectional time limit for each of the three sections.
