IIM Mumbai has introduced a one-year Executive MBA in Wealth Management for working professionals in the financial services sector. Developed in collaboration with Neo Wealth and Asset Management, the program was inaugurated on 15 July 2026 at the institute's Powai campus with classes beginning on 18 July 2026.

The program is one of India's first academic offerings dedicated exclusively to wealth management. It will be conducted in a non-residential weekend format over 52 weekends, enabling professionals to pursue higher education alongside their careers.
The course offers comprehensive training in portfolio management, risk evaluation, tax planning, estate planning and behavioural finance. The courses will be taught by IIM Mumbai faculty members and enriched through industry-led sessions delivered by experts from Neo Wealth and Asset Management and other organisations.
The initiative highlights the growing role of industry-academia partnerships in preparing professionals for the rapidly evolving wealth management sector. The partnership between IIM Mumbai and Neo Wealth also includes an MoU aimed at expanding access to wealth management knowledge through digital platforms featuring masterclasses, case studies, research publications, and industry insights.
The Indian wealth management industry has seen considerable growth due to several factors such as entrepreneurship, liquidity events in businesses, wealth generation from first-generation families and wealth transfer across generations. The growing industry has generated a need for individuals with specific skills in investment, taxes, risk management, succession planning and wealth management.
While addressing the gathering, Prof Manoj Kumar Tiwary, Director of IIM Mumbai, said that the course is an indication of the institute’s commitment to imparting industry-relevant education and preparing leaders for the future. He further stated that the association of Neo Wealth & Asset Management will provide the students with much-needed practical insights as well.
Mr Shajikumar Devakar, who is the Co-Founder and CEO of Neo Wealth, said that the wealth management industry is constantly changing and needs people who have both the technical skills and the customer-centric approach. He was sure that the partnership between Neo Wealth and IIM Mumbai would help create qualified specialists for the developing finance industry.
The inauguration ceremony saw participation from the IIM Mumbai management, faculty, professionals and representatives of the first batch. In the course of the program, Shajikumar Devakar shared his thoughts on the recent trends in wealth management as well as the need for lifelong learning in the financial services industry.
