University of Western Australia collaborates with IIM Mumbai and IIT Dhanbad on mining and sustainability projects

The University of Western Australia has entered into an alliance with IIM Mumbai and IIT/ISM Dhanbad with a view to collaborative efforts in the mining domain. It will concentrate on Logistics, Sustainability and Emerging Opportunities in Mining.

University of Western Australia collaborates with IIM Mumbai and IIT Dhanbad on mining and sustainability projects

It begins with approximately ten online micro-credential courses. There will be more courses created down the line based on requirements from the sector. The courses have been designed with an intention to assist India with its transition into clean energy, improve its supply chain and assist with talent development within mining. It will offer opportunities for collaborative research and developments in mining, automation and geosciences.

UWA is also planning to open campuses in Mumbai and Chennai. Both will start from mid 2026. The Mumbai campus will be majorly involved in business and Information Technology and the Chennai campus will be majorly involved in Technology and Information Technology. Along with this, UWA is opening collaborative centers at Visakhapatnam with Telangana University.

It will be partnered with Centurion University Bhubaneswar. Both will offer micro-credential courses to upscale mining skills. It will reduce the skill gap prevailing in the mining sector.

UWA will introduce a Sports Immersion Program countrywide. This will be facilitated by an up-to-date facility for Sports Science at its soon-to-be-opened Chennai campus. The project will be created with Avid Sports and Chennai Bulls collaboration. The project will enable the transfer of knowledge and skills from Australian sports science professionals to Indian athletes, trainers and sports bodies. The project will provide immersion, analytics training, biomechanics assistance and opportunities involving learning and actual implementation within sports. It already enjoys interest from prominent sports bodies wanting better scientific trainings on all levels be it elite or grassroot.
