Prof. Bharat Bhasker Director of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science for an outstanding contribution to science and technology.

Dr T. R. Paarivendhar Founder & Chancellor SRMIST, the Chairman in Charge was the Chief Guest at the ceremony & on the occasion said that the institute should set high standards in its academic excellence and social relevance.

15105 degrees were conferred this year including 9324 men, 5779 women and 2 transgenders. The award consists of 6,686 undergraduate degrees 4455 men and 2,231 women, 7938 postgraduate degrees 4623 men, 3,313 women and 2 transgender, 388 doctorates 174 men and 214 women, 11 postgraduate diplomas 6 men and 5 women and 82 diplomas 66 men and 16 women. In addition 299 rank medallists received awards, consisting of 214 first rank recipients 52 men and 162 women, 52 second rank recipients 10 men and 42 women and 33 third-rank recipients 13 men and 20 women, acknowledging academic achievement across disciplines. The event's main guest, Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Hon. Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India gave an energising convocation speech to a packed audience of graduates, educators and dignitaries.

In his address he further said Knowledge is the strongest of all; it contains creativity, entrepreneurship, science, technology, research, talents and successful practices.  Knowledge to wealth will decide the fate of every nation and industry.

He went on to say that the prime minister hoped to create India the world's third largest economy. He added that being the fastest growing economy, their dream was to make an Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat a self reliant and developed country that would be a Vishwa Guru in the world.

The real power of each great nation is its commitment towards future progress such as innovation, research and technology.These would be the pillars that are going to take India forward and make it a global leader.

He was speaking at the convocation ceremony at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad IIMA where he passed out in 1985 where he wanted to tell the graduating students that they were the future of the country. He added that India was standing at a crossroads in its growth, becoming one of the largest economies of the world and a global leader and that the responsibility for this advancement lay with them.

He urged them that wherever they go and in whichever field they enter, industry, research or entrepreneurship they must give their best with heart and mind. He said further that the growth of the country would be dependent on their innovation, honesty and commitment and implored them to work together to see India reach the heights it should.

Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan Vice Chancellor SRMIST gave the Institution's Annual Report, saying that this year SRMIST has achieved great milestones, from NAAC A++ accreditation for the third time in a row and 11th ranking in NIRF 2025 to 491 patents and 42 start-ups created. Scholarships worth ₹108.18 crores helped nearly 7000 students, making brilliance prevail despite social or socioeconomic limitations. Our academic and research activities continue to promote innovation and international engagement.

He continued At SRMIST inclusivity and diversity are the key to excellence. Of 15,105 alumni, 55% of Ph.D. graduates and 75% of rank holders are female and two transgender students completed this year showing their commitment to embracing every learner, path and identity.

With students from over 65 countries SRMIST equips graduates to be beacons of inclusiveness, equity builders and global change catalysts.

Thousands of students received degrees in various fields culminating years of intense study and academic achievement. Among the rank holders women graduates excelled in all the agriculture programs proving women's empowerment in science and technology. Two transgender students graduated from SRMIST this year proving the university's inclusive culture and respect for diversity.

The ceremony was a vibrant mixture of tradition pride and future looking optimism highlighting SRMIST as an institution at the forefront defining India's educational and innovation future.
