This collaboration is important as India's share in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index has reached its highest level and the country is expected to become the third - largest economy in the world by 2027.
Around 120 participants attended the event for cross - cultural learning and business discussions.
The event brought together 72 Harvard MBA students, 30 SPJIMR students and alumni, 10 Harvard alumni in leadership positions along with faculty and staff from Harvard Business School. The delegation was led by Ashish Nanda Senior Lecturer and C Roland Christensen Distinguished Management Educator at Harvard Business School.
The session gave students a platform to share ideas on innovation, customer experience and new business opportunities in India.
SPJIMR Dean Prof Varun Nagaraj said that modern management education should prepare leaders to work across different cultures and fast - changing business environments. He added that such collaborations help students understand real situations, question their assumptions and learn how leadership decisions are influenced by both global and local factors.
Hands-on Learning and International Collaboration are Highlighted as Key Focus Areas
During their stay in Mumbai, Harvard Business School students worked with local companies on practical projects to create new products, services and customer experiences. The session allowed them to share early ideas from their field work and get feedback from SPJIMR participants who had strong knowledge of the local market.
The session was conducted as part of the FIELD Global Capstone course for first - year MBA students at Harvard Business School. This program helps students work in unfamiliar situations and learn from real business challenges. In 2026 it will be conducted in 14 cities worldwide with support from local businesses and institutions like SPJIMR.
Prof Joe Fuller from Harvard Business School thanked SPJIMR for the partnership and said it greatly improves student learning and promotes global exposure.
The event ended with an informal networking session where participants shared ideas, built connections and discussed education, entrepreneurship and innovation.
