Prof. Nalini Prava Tripathy takes charge as the new director of IIM Shillong
Professor DP Goyal bids farewell to the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong (IIM Shillong). As the director, he served the institute since 2019 and is now succeeded by Prof. Nalini Prava Tripathy. Throughout his tenure as the director of IIM Shillong, Prof. Goyal showcased outstanding leadership and academic excellence and played a significant role in the growth and stature of the institute.
Shishir Kumar Bajoria, Chairman BoG; DP Wahlang, Chief Secretary, Meghalayan Government; Atul Kulkarni and Nitin Sharma member of BoG; Patricia Mukhim, Editor - Shillong Times were the guests who graced the farewell ceremony along with the faculty, staff and other members of the IIM Shillong family.
Prof. Goyal's leadership and efforts towards enhancing the academic reputation of the institute were appreciated by the BOG chairman. Wahlang, board member and chief secretary, remembered attending classes from Prof. Goyal during his undergraduate days and emphasised the lasting impact that Goyal's vision and dedication had on IIM Shillong and its academic body.
Prof. Nalini Prava Tripathy is a renowned scholar with a D.Litt. (MBA) degree from Utkal University. Now appointed as the director of IIM Shillong, she used to be a Professor of Finance and Accounting at the institute and prior to that she was an Associate Professor at IIM Indore. She possesses several degrees such as M.Com, M.Phil, Ph.D. and D.Litt. in Management. She has been rewarded with numerous distinguished titles and grants including her visit to the USA as a Fulbright scholar. Her research and teaching interests include fields like corporate finance, business valuation, financial services, investment banking, and corporate strategy.
Prof. Tripathy is a productive researcher and has authored more than 90 research articles in top-ranked ABDC, Scopus and Web of Science-indexed journals. She has also authored eight books. Her research areas include corporate finance in emerging markets, business valuation, stock and derivatives markets and risk management. Her work demonstrates a perfect combination of academic rigour and practical financial knowledge.
