Why JG University Initiated This Program?
More than 10 lakh (one million) candidates take the UPSC Civil Services Examination each year in India. Many more participate in similar state examinations including the GPSC in Gujarat. But even though there are so many candidates most of them have to independently prepare for these exams after graduation.
The JG University noticed this and took action accordingly. Rather than forcing students to select between an academic degree or preparing for the examination the university decided to combine both options in a single program.
What is Unique About These Programs?
BBA (Hons.) and iMBA Courses in Public Administration have been carefully structured to include -
Public Administration & Governance
UPSC/ GPSC Examination-Based Subjects
Ethics and Analytical Skills
Policy Formulation & Government Institutions
Economics and Civics
There is no need for students to run back and forth between their college courses and coaching classes.
Statement from the University Leader
Dr Achyut Dani the Director General & Provost of JG University, made clear that the education offered at JG University was crafted to enable the learners to play an effective role not only in society but also in the country as a whole.
He pointed out that by embedding UPSC and GPSC preparations in the very process of management learning, the university intended to ensure that its learners could not only acquire solid theoretical knowledge but also hone their skills of analysis and leadership as well as develop their civic sense.
He also emphasised that the basic goal of the university was to create conditions under which the learners would be able to pursue a professional degree and prepare themselves for one of the most prestigious career options in India simultaneously.
Why Public Administration as a Career?
The Indian administration is going through drastic changes with big projects like 'Digital India'. With these transformations happening in the country, there is a greater need now for experts in public administration and management.
Climbing up the ladder of career in the fields of IAS, IPS, IRS and IFS in India is considered one of the most prestigious choices. The innovative programs launched by JG University aim to help students make their mark in such careers.
