IIM-V Celebrates 12th Foundation Day with Awards, Startups and Academic Milestones

In her Foundation Day speech, Sumita Dawra, a former Secretary to the Government of India's Ministry of Labour and Employment and former Principal Secretary of the Government of Andhra Pradesh's Higher Education Department, praised the institute's remarkable growth throughout the years. While commenting on India's emergence from demographic advantage to demographic dividend, she said that the country was currently passing through a rare 'Goldilocks phase'. She underlined the imperative need for skilling, re-skilling and upskilling and the need to learn, unlearn and relearn continuously in the swiftly changing global economy today.
In her Foundation Day speech, Sumita Dawra, a former secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment and former principal secretary of higher education in Andhra Pradesh, commended the institute's outstanding advancements.
M. Chandrasekhar, director of IIM-V, welcomed the gathering and spoke about the phenomenal growth of the institute during the last decade. During a short span of a decade plus, he said that the institute has gained a reputation for high-quality management education, which smoothly integrates the seams between theory and practice. The director said that the institute has become a place that prepares future leaders. These leaders will contribute to corporate, public and social sectors as managers, entrepreneurs and innovators. In front of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Smriti Irani, the Union HRD Minister at the time, lay the foundation stone for IIM Visakhapatnam on January 17, 2015.
In 2024 Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the institute's magnificent 241 acre campus located in the Gambheeram Village, Anandapuram mandal through virtual means
IIM-V, which boasts a robust and diverse faculty and research, innovation and leadership driven focus helps sustain the educational requirements of more than 15000 students from around the globe in a single year through its classroom, online and combined delivery options.
The institute is home to IIM-V-FIELD one of India's most rapidly growing incubators, which houses close to 200 startups, 75 percent of which are women-owned.
During the event, Sumita Dawra awarding merit certificates to eight PGP students, expressed appreciation to eight high-achieving PGP students for their extraordinary academic performance. Students, faculty and staff were also honored with awards for their excellence in sports and other achievements.
