IIM Shillong Organises 3rd International Week to Promote Global Leadership with Indian Values

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong concluded the third edition of its flagship event International Week (I-Week) held on July 1, 2025. The program hosted 31 international visitors from Malaysia, Thailand, Greece, Nepal and Vietnam further enhancing the institute's vision to create leaders who are globally oriented and rooted in Indian values.

IIM Shillong Organises 3rd International Week to Promote Global Leadership with Indian Values

The core concept of I-Week this year was the integration of leadership, entrepreneurship and social impact with a global-Indian perspective. The program provided equal amounts of academic sessions and cultural activities providing learners with a well-rounded learning experience.

Dr. Naliniprava Tripathy who is the Director (In-Charge) also stressed the importance of the event in shaping future leaders who would be both socially conscious and globally oriented and yet rooted in Indian culture. Prof. Teidorlang Lyngdoh the chairperson of External Relations stated that the program is a bridge between nations, communities, ideas and intentions.

Professionals and members of the faculty presented the courses from around five continents. The courses included major topics like:

  • Inclusive entrepreneurship by Prof. Rohit Dwivedi.

  • Indigenous leadership & storytelling by Prof. Sanjeeb Kakoty.

  • Intercultural Management by Prof. Sheetal Deendayal.

  • Critical thinking & adaptive leadership by Prof. Rohit Joshi.

  • Ethical leadership & emotional intelligence by Christine and Gerard Farias.

  • Innovation based on data from Professor Basav Roychoudhury.

  • Prof. Sanjoy Mukherjee employs ancient Indian knowledge to inform contemporary decision-making.

In addition to classroom sessions the participants also visited to all sorts of cultural and natural attractions around Meghalaya. One of the most notable of these was a tour to EriWeave, an eco-friendly silk business initiated by Iaishah Rymbai and showcased on Shark Tank India. The trip provided an understanding of local craftsmanship and green entrepreneurship.

Through programs such as I-Week, IIM Shillong continues to nurture the growth of visionary leaders who integrate innovation, inclusiveness and values with a deep sense of cultural identity.
