The celebration brought together the board of governors, faculty, staff, students and guests. They reflected on the institute’s journey and discussed its future goals.

Gautam Barua, a IIIT Guwahati professor emeritus and former director of IIIT Guwahati gave the first lecture on The Business of AI.  He discussed the latest advancements in AI, especially generative AI.

Agility and clarity of vision were important aspects of management education said Nitin Sharma, member of the Board of Governors. Success was not achieved only with speed, but it is the direction and intent that determine the true growth of an institution. 

Prof Naliniprava Tripathy director in charge at IIM Shillong, spoke to me about the progress of the institute since its inaugural MBA batch of 63 students in 2008. According to her, the foundation of IIM Shillong was the idea that management education needed to extend beyond the classroom.  Former Oracle vice president (HCM and SaaS Applications), APAC, Shaakun Khanna discussed the development of human capital in a world that is fast going digital.
