This is the first batch of 2026, which has managed to make it through the program established after the institution got its current designation.
According to the institution, this particular batch studied in an era of transformation, where the Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai, revamped its academic program to be in tune with the standards of other IIMs. As such, the students were part of an era when NITIE's previous academic program changed into an MBA-focused one.
Indian Institute of Management Mumbai: Inaugural MBA Cohort Marks Key Transition
It was officially confirmed by the Indian Institute of Management Mumbai that the first MBA graduation batch marked a significant stage of development in the history of the institute. As mentioned in an official statement from the institution, this MBA course brings together both the industrial engineering and operations tradition of IIM and the model of management education common throughout all IIMs.
The two-year MBA program is aimed at combining the legacy and experience of the educational institution with the standardized framework of management programs.
According to Director Manoj Tiwari, this particular year, the 2026 batch, has been marked with significant continuity and changes. The director pointed out that graduates enter the professional field with their capabilities, contributing to establishing and reinforcing the principles of education in the academic environment of the institute.
Furthermore, it was stated that developing its academic position and increasing its influence is among the priorities of IIM Mumbai now. The goal is to develop the institute into a place that prepares future managers and builds a strong global academic reputation.
