IIM Lucknow Highlights Academic Growth in Minister Meeting

M. P. Gupta, the Director of the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, called upon the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, in New Delhi. The meeting was held to discuss the evolving role of premium management institutions in creating leadership of the future.

During the course of the discussion, Gupta mentioned IIM Lucknow’s commitment to multidisciplinary learning through its offering of interdisciplinary courses. It also undertook initiatives in public policy, skill development, student well-being, global partnership, research and executive education.

Gupta spoke about the investments in infrastructure and technology at the institute. Among the initiatives at the institute are the promotion of leadership and innovation, scholarships in support of student mobility and encouragement for an inclusive education, particularly for students from remote areas.

He said that the objective of IIM Lucknow is to create leaders who are socially conscious, innovative and responsible in order to contribute to economic and social growth in the country in a sustainable manner. He also said that the institute was working with some government bodies and other institutes to help in the growth and development of the country.

The conversation also touched upon IIM Lucknow’s recent success in its academic credentials. This entails the launch of its blended MBA program and the global spread of its Executive MBA initiative. Gupta also mentioned the joint PG program in healthcare management with IIT Kanpur.

He discussed alumni engagement, which included aspects of mentorship, industry engagement and institutional building. He also revealed that some executive education programs have been added/updated to address future industry requirements.

Other achievements included IIM Lucknow achieving the Triple Crown accreditation status, establishing a Mind Lab under the Rekhi Centre of Excellence, as well as engaging with Goldman Sachs for training 10,000 women entrepreneurs. It was also noted that the institute had been approved to create a Centre of Excellence in Blockchain Technology.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Gupta invited the Minister to visit the campus of IIM Lucknow to interact with the students, the faculty, the researchers and to explore the future of management education in the country.
