IIM Jammu Introduces a General Management Program to Strengthen NHPC Middle Management Leadership

The General Management Program for Middle Management-Batch I for National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited, a Government of India Navratna Company was formally launched at the Indian Institute of Management Jammu's Vedanta MDP Centre, Jagti Campus. The program is expected to enhance the managerial competencies, leadership skills and strategic vision of NHPC's middle management executives, reflective of IIM Jammu's focus on executive education and industry associations.

IIM Jammu Introduces a General Management Program to Strengthen NHPC Middle Management Leadership

The inaugural ceremony was honoured by IIM Jammu's leadership

At the program's inaugural event which was officially opened by Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, the IIM Jammu leadership welcomed 20 middle-management participants from NHPC from different regions of India. The first session included participant registration, a tour of the institute's excellent facilities (such as the Nalanda Library, the Vedanta Executive Education Block and smart classrooms) and a ceremonial lamp lighting to formally commemorate the start.

Prof. Jabir Ali Dean of Faculty and Research; Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C); Program Directors Drs. Mahesh Gadekar and Gaana J. and other senior faculty members of IIM Jammu also attended.

In his address Prof. Sahay highlighted that the six-day event will provide a worthy learning experience for participants as well as faculty members. He highlighted the project-based last session where participants will work on actual organisational challenges and present organised outcomes in the form of PowerPoint presentations.

Prof. Sahay encouraged active participation, peer-to-peer co-operation and sharing of knowledge among the public sector.

In addition he emphasised IIM Jammu's international reputation by mentioning its recent institutional BGA Accreditation and EFMD Program Accreditation which place it among India's top five IIMs. Prof. Sahay highlighted the institute ongoing quest for AACSB certification aiming to be part of the elite club of Triple Crown accredited business schools.

A program fit for collaborative learning and industry acumen

Prof. Jabir Ali highlighted the importance of the program in contributing to professional growth and mutual learning with well-selected modules made to address the needs of middle management. Prof. Sanjeev Pathak highlighted the program's alignment with NHPC's organisational requirements along with the three key pillars of the Executive Education Centre: high-quality learning, quantifiable industry contribution and proactive engagement.

Dr. Mahesh Gadekar utilised case studies, simulations and leadership exercises to illustrate the program's comprehensive curriculum in strategy, finance, project management, geopolitics and conscious communication. Dr Gaana J. cast a vote of appreciation, acknowledging NHPC achievements, faculty and organiser team.

Week-long Program for Future-Ready Public Sector Leaders

The seven-day program consists of interactive seminars, case studies, simulations, leadership exercises and strategic debates. The program, organised by IIM Jammu's EE&C vertical and ably represented by Mr Pardeep Saini, Mr Mohd Arif, Ms Rupali Jamwal and Mr. Anil Singh showcases the institute's efforts to create future-ready leaders for India's public sector enterprises through impactful industry-academia collaboration.
