IIM Jammu hosts an MCFC Session on Strengthening Defence Capabilities through Academic-Industry Collaboration

On October 15, 2025 at the Patanjali Classroom, the Indian Institute of Management Jammu, under the direction of Prof. B.S. Sahay Director of IIM Jammu, held a crucial session of the current Military Civil Fusion Capsule (MCFC). Enhancing Defence Capability via Integration with the Private Sector and Academia was the session's focus.

IIM Jammu hosts an MCFC Session on Strengthening Defence Capabilities through Academic-Industry Collaboration

The Military Civil Fusion Capsule commenced its inaugural session on October 15, 2025 at the Tiger Division in Jammu. The capsule from October 15th to 29th, 2025 highlights the need for coordination between the Armed Forces, Civil Administration, Academia and Security Agencies towards facilitating regional peace and development. It aims to establish deeper institutional involvement beyond strategic levels to grassroots governance, which is essential in facing multidimensional issues such as conventional security threats and emerging issues in the cyber and social fronts. The event hosted top army officers, civil administrators and academic experts from IIM Jammu and IIT Jammu to brainstorm innovative solutions to enhancing defence system of India through technical cooperation, research and strategic partnerships.

The commanding officer of 626 EME Battalion 26th Division and Brigadier Pawan Rai Commander of 26 Artillery Brigade conducted lively talks to start the program. The talks revolved around employing education and business world experience to enhance operational effectiveness and technomatic innovation in the defence forces. The speakers also discussed Jammu's historic civil military harmony, citing Operation Sindoor and Rahat as examples of how interagency collaboration has enhanced resilience and local development. 

Prof. Nitin Upadhyay Dean of Academics at IIM Jammu highlighted the pivotal role of academia in nation building and the development of institutional synergy towards the vision of Viksit Bharat.  Dr. Karan Nathwani and Dr. Samaresh Bera from IIT Jammu provided interesting presentations on Technology Absorption as a Force Multiplier where emphasis was placed on AI, drones and cyber technologies in contemporary warfare. Co-Chairperson of Anandam IIM Jammu Prof. Brig. (Retd.) Neeraj Soni delivered an educational lecture on creating future-ready strategic HRM practices for the Indian Army. He spoke about how to adopt digital transformation, team spirit and human centric leadership in planning for future issues.

Neeraj Soni, Co-Chairperson, Anandam, IIM Jammu. Dr Karan Nathwani, Associate Professor, IIT Jammu and Dr. Samaresh Bera, Assistant Professor, IIT Jammu were present on the occasion as well.

The seminar ended on a patriotic note with a moving poetry recital on Operation Sindoor by IIM Jammu student Shri Abhishek Dubey which was given thunderous applause by all participants. The session once again reiterated IIM Jammu's resolve to foster defense academia industry synergy, innovation and a Whole of Nation approach to national development.
