IIM Bangalore will offer this course as part of its Executive Education program at its Centre for Capital Markets and Risk Management. This course is now accredited by FPSB India. Classes are set to start in March 2026.
As IIM Bangalore states the initiative aims at responding appropriately to the rising need for formal and trustworthy education in the field of financial management. As increased numbers of people are now investing in financial markets, financial products are on the increase and thus there is a higher need for financial advisors.
The course incorporates a theoretical framework and a hands-on approach. Microeconomics, business decision-making and contemporary wealth advisory approaches are all part of the course. The audience will also get hands-on experience on market tools and data platforms such as Bloomberg data sets which will give insight into financial analysis and advisories.
The launching event was graced with the presence of senior faculty members from IIM Bangalore, Program Directors, representatives from the Council of Financial Planners and representatives from FPSB India. It was announced at this event by FPSB India that this program has been accorded formal accreditation.
Dr. Aishwarya Krishna a Research Consultant at the Centre for Capital Markets and Risk Management clarified that it actually meets very well with what’s required today. So, with a lot of changes happening because of regulatory issues, market turmoil as well as demands for professional advice this course has been shaped accordingly.
Upon completion of this program, the participants will become part of the IIM Bangalore Executive Education Programs Alumni and if eligible according to the criteria set by FPSB India they will also be given a faster path to attain the status of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER.
According to FPSB India, the collaboration is part of its overall efforts to work with academic institutions with the intention of improving financial planning education in the Indian market. In its 2023 research the team behind FPSB India observed that professionals with the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL planner certification report higher client engagement levels and increased income particularly during the initial years of practice.
