IIM Bangalore Hosts Orientation for PGP & PGPBA Class of 2025-27; Honours Notable Alumni with DAA 2025

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) welcomed the newly admitted students of the PGP and PGP-BA courses for the 2025-27 academic session with an orientation week program organised between June 9 and June 15, 2025. The occasion saw participation from students, faculty, alumni and distinguished guests all gathered to mark the beginning of a fresh academic journey.

IIM Bangalore Hosts Orientation for PGP & PGPBA Class of 2025-27; Honours Notable Alumni with DAA 2025

One of the important highlights of the orientation program was the Distinguished Alumni Awards (DAA) 2025 which honored four outstanding IIMB alumni for their success and contributions to various industries as well as for demonstrating the core values of the IIMB community. The Alumni Relations and Development Dean Professor Sourav Mukherji inaugurated the awards while Accenture's Global Capability Network MD Ganeshan Ramachandran presented them.

The 2025 DAA award recipients were:

  • Dr. Sandhya Shekhar (PGP 1984) a digital and business strategy leader and ex-CEO of IIT Madras Research Park who spoke about the necessity of remaining ethical in business. She attributed IIMB for making her realise her strength as a person and teaching her that being ethical is a matter of pride.

  • Prashant Jain (PGP 1991) Founder of 3P Investment Managers and former CIO of HDFC Mutual Fund who explained how IIMB aided him in shifting gears from engineering to finance, and formulating a lifetime strategy based on learning and ethics. He compared learning to a balance sheet where learning accumulates your assets and setbacks teach you more.

  • Mathew Cyriac (PGP 1994) the chairman of Florintree Advisors and co-founder of Yali Capital talked about how IIMB helped him turn his self-doubt into confidence and provided him with friendships and mentorship that have guided him throughout his life.

  • Vineet Saraiwala (PGP 2015) Atypical Advantage Founder & CEO shared how IIMB empowered him as a visually impaired student and motivated him to build an inclusive India. He thanked the institute for providing him with the platform and faith to address significant social issues.

Academic awards and scholarships were also part of the orientation program which presented a high and motivational tone to the new students.
