IIM Amritsar Welcomes First Batch of Integrated Program in Management (IPM)

The Indian Institute of Management Amritsar has formally begun its first batch of the Integrated Program in Management (IPM). This novel five-year program provides students with a double degree a BSc in Quantitative Finance and Economics (QFE) and an MBA. Students have enrolled for the course from all over the country so the batch is diverse and inclusive.

The inauguration started with lamp-lighting ceremony under the leadership of Prof. Samir Kumar Srivastava who is the Director of IIMAm along with dignitaries such as Chief Guest Mangesh Soman, Chief Economist at JSW Steel Ltd; Dr. Arun Kumar Kaushik, Dean Administration and Dr. Chetan Chitre who is the Chairperson of the IPM program.

While presenting his address Dr. Chitre welcomed the students for opting for this demanding programme and emphasised respect and cooperation in being successful. He advised them to take advice from faculty and seniors when required inculcating the collaborative atmosphere of IIMAm.

On behalf of the Dean of Academics and Programs Dr. Sujit Raghunathrao Jagadale, Dr. Mukesh Kumar addressed the changing power of education. He urged students to reflect on why they had registered for the program and what sort of impact they planned to leave on society. He described IIMAm as an energetic community of students, faculty and staff where new ideas and innovation get expression.

Prof. Samir Srivastava inspired the students by emphasising teamwork and decision-making. He also reminded them that the batch's diversity would be for the benefit of their overall learning and personal development. He thanked the staff and faculty for their hard work in ensuring the success of the IPM program.

Chief Guest Mangesh Soman who has had three decades of experience in the field of economics and strategy, complimented IIMAm for creating the most innovative program. He instructed students to prioritise evidence-based thinking, data-driven decisions and lucid communication. He also asked them to use sources of information they trusted, consider multiple angles and before making any decisions take a step back.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Roshan Kumar Mishra who is the IPM Program Manager. Students were also notified that their future is constructed brick by brick with their own efforts. Through the inauguration of this program IIM Amritsar has marked a new page in its life in order to mould young minds and consolidate its presence in Indian higher education.
