The institute now joins an elite group of only 15 B-schools in India that have achieved accreditation status from two world-class accrediting agencies namely AACSB and Association of MBAs UK which is known as the Double Crown status.
The accreditation was formally announced at a ceremony held at the institute's Gurgaon campus where Prathap Das, the South Asia Head at AACSB, personally handed over the accreditation certificate to the leadership team of the institute.
What This Means for Students, Faculty and Recruiters
AACSB accreditation is expected to boost the international reputation of the institute and provide a whole new range of opportunities to the institute's academic community. For students, this accreditation is expected to give a huge boost to their international credentials, making it easier for them to explore new career avenues abroad or pursue further education at a globally recognised institution.
The faculty members are also expected to benefit from this accreditation which may open new avenues for them in terms of global research collaborations, international conferences and a global academic network. The double crown accreditation is a clear sign to recruiters and business partners of the institute's excellent academic standards, first-rate facilities and industry-aligned curriculum.
Recognition of Great Lakes' Efforts
While addressing the event Prathap Das said that the AACSB accreditation marks another significant milestone in our journey. It is to be recognised that achieving this recognition entails a long-term commitment to quality education, research and development. He also added that as India enhances its presence globally, management education institutions like Great Lakes play an important role in nurturing responsible and capable business leaders of the future.
How Great Lakes Was Evaluated for AACSB Accreditation
Before receiving this accreditation, Great Lakes Institute of Management underwent an intensive and detailed assessment process to test its compliance with the global standards of AACSB. The assessment was conducted on certain parameters such as curriculum, research, faculty and student outcomes.
The last and most important part of the process was the on-campus evaluation of the Great Lakes Institute of Management by deans and senior representatives of prominent international business schools based on AACSB's stringent global standards.
Institute's Response
Jones Mathew, the Principal of Great Lakes Institute of Management, said that the AACSB accreditation is a proud and historic moment for the entire Great Lakes community. The faculty, staff, students, alumni and industry partners who have continuously supported the institute's pursuit of academic excellence over the years have contributed to this accomplishment he said.
He also added that the accreditation process by AACSB has been a value addition to the institute's overall journey to excellence and that while this is indeed an important milestone the institute has no intention of resting on its laurels and will continue to strive to reach even higher standards in management education.
