GIM Celebrates Founder’s 100th Birth Anniversary, Launches ₹20 Cr Endowment Plan

The endowment was launched with commitments worth ₹5 crore and is expected to reach its first phase target of ₹20 crore reflecting the strong commitment and generosity of GIM’s alumni community of nearly 7000 members.
Prof Ajit Parulekar Director of GIM said that marking Fr. D’Souza’s centenary was also a reaffirmation of the institute’s commitment to carrying forward his vision of nurturing responsible leaders for society. He emphasised that the founder’s values continue to guide GIM’s daily functioning and its pursuit of excellence, quality and impact.
Ashank Desai, Chairman of GIM's Board of Governors underlined the institute's history and emphasis on excellence, innovation and country development.He acknowledged Fr. D’Souza’s foresight in establishing an institution rooted in values, social responsibility and vitality.
Addressing the occasion, Goa Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju said that GIM stands as a reminder that leadership must be grounded in responsibility, sustainability and empathy. He noted that Fr. D’Souza believed institutions are built not merely with infrastructure, but through people, values and purpose. He added that leadership should be measured by the positive impact on lives and the courage shown in challenging times and called upon the community to honour the founder by upholding his values and embracing leadership as a moral responsibility.
In his keynote address, Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia former Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of India praised GIM for mobilising resources with the support of its alumni. He pointed to global challenges such as geopolitical uncertainty, climate change and rapid technological disruption and said these demand flexible systems and responsible leadership. He added that institutions like GIM have a crucial role to play in preparing leaders who can successfully navigate an increasingly complex future.
