Under this policy, applicants who wish to focus on launching and developing their own ventures can choose to skip the regular placement season and dedicate a year to their entrepreneurial pursuits. If they later decide to explore corporate career opportunities, they will be allowed to participate in the institute placement process in the subsequent year.

Commenting on the initiative, Prof. Alok Kumar Rai said that a student's time at the institute is a transformative experience that fosters learning, personal growth and self-discovery.

Prof Rai said that along with gaining knowledge and developing new skills, your time here is a chance to build leadership qualities, strong values and a sense of responsibility towards society. I encourage you to stay curious, keep an open mind and always strive to do your best.

The event was also attended by Ganesh Mohan, Managing Director of Bajaj Finserv Asset Management Ltd; Bhaskar Chakrabarti, the Dean of Academic Programs and Partha Priya Datta, Chairperson of the MBA Program.

The 63 MBA batch at IIM Calcutta consists of 480 applicants, including 67 per cent male and 33 per cent female students. The batch represents twenty-two states and two Union Territories across India. The batch includes 41 per cent fresh graduates and 59 per cent students with prior work experience.

Pranav Adani, Managing Director of Adani Enterprises, announced that the AALP will continue for the next two years. Under this initiative, six outstanding MBA students from IIM Calcutta will receive full scholarships every year. The company also donated 200 bicycles to help students travel easily across the institute's large campus.

The institute further shared that students will participate in an orientation program designed to introduce them to the history and culture of Kolkata. As part of the program, they will visit famous landmarks such as Belur Math, Vidyasagar Setu, Howrah Bridge, Eden Gardens and Victoria Memorial.
