The 2025 GMAT Test Eligibility Requirements
1. Academic Requirement
There are no explicit academic requirements as per GMAC to appear for the GMAT test. Nonetheless, candidates are normally supposed to be graduates from a recognised university. It's also necessary for the aspirants to fulfil the university or business school's admission criteria where they wish to apply.
2. GMAT Language Proficiency
Both the online and offline versions of the GMAT are administered in English. Thus, students who have not studied in an English-medium school, college or university can still sit for the GMAT examination in 2025. The candidates should be proficient in the language and have a basic understanding of it to appear for the test.
Note: Because of the difficulty and complexity of the exam, applicants now need to have a strong English language capability in order to score well.
3. Age Restriction
You need to be 18 years of age or older to sit for the GMAT test. If you are between 13 and 17 years old, you can sit for the test only if you submit written consent from a parent or guardian prior to taking the test. There is no maximum age.
4. Work Experience
Work experience is not a requirement to take the GMAT. Still, most business schools will prefer or need applicants to possess some kind of work experience as part of the admission requirement.
5. Number of Attempts
You may take the GMAT (online or at a test centre) a maximum of 5 times within the duration of 12 months.
You can have a total of 8 attempts in your lifetime.
If you obtain a perfect score of 800 (old version) or 805 (new version) then you must wait for 5 years before reappearing for the test.
If your exam score is cancelled because of any policy violation or test problem that attempt is still counted towards your annual limit.
6. Gap Between Attempts
Once you have taken the GMAT (either online or in person), you must wait a minimum of 16 days before taking it again.
7. Account Policy
If you close your GMAC account, you will have to wait for 5 years before retaking the GMAT. Moreover, opening multiple accounts with different email IDs to avoid restrictions is not allowed at all.
Reservation Criteria
There is no category reservation. Still, disabled candidates are eligible for special arrangements. These arrangements have to be sanctioned prior to arranging your test. You also need to adhere to any particular directions communicated during the sanctioning procedure.
