The Onboarding Procedure For New Academic Batches at IIM Jammu Has Begun
The Jagti campus will be bustling with activity from July 11 to July 13 as the sixth batch of PhDs, the fourth batch of working professional PhDs, the tenth batch of MBAs, the fourth batch of healthcare MBAs and the fifth batch of executive MBAs arrive on campus.
IIM Jammu has developed a simple and organised onboarding procedure that will make the transition easier for both students and their families, in keeping with its student-centric philosophy. In addition to internal transportation options like buses, e-karts and taxis, special pick-up services from Jammu Airport and Railway Station have been operationalised to make campus travel simple.
Throughout the entire process, a centralised help desk is available to assist students with registration, document validation and hostel assignment. In keeping with the institute's emphasis on nurturing and hospitality, the ceremonies are held in the cafeteria, where students and their accompanying family members are provided with free, healthful meals.
The interactive conversation between the parents of the students and the academic staff—which includes Director Prof. B S Sahay, Dean (Faculty & Research) Prof. Jabir Ali, and Dean (Academics) Prof. Nitin Upadhyay—is an essential part of the induction process.
The purpose of the session is to establish early rapport, encourage open communication and create a strong feeling of belonging.
Prof. Sahay pointed out that IIM Jammu education starts prior to the classroom and the induction process represents the institute's underlying values of people-focused leadership and operational efficiency.
Prof Ali underlined the value of accessibility and transparency in the induction structure, while Prof Upadhyay said a safe and well-informed beginning makes students more comfortable to engage with professors and campus life.
