IIM Bangalore’s largest batch of 595 students received over 650 offers

The top career choice among the students remains management consulting. The accounting sector made the second-most offers, which is 41% of the total. The other sectors that followed the race were technology/product management and investment banking.

Around 595 students have appeared for the placement procedure for the 2023-2025 batch. These students graduated in the PGP and PGPBA batches and have appeared for the lateral and final placements for the batch of 2023-2025. 

Brief

The top career choice among the students remains management consulting, followed by accounting, which comprises 41% of offers made this year. Career in Technology, product management and investment banking are also very popular. 

IIM Bangalore’s students were hired in prominent sectors like FMCG, retail, e-commerce, conglomerates, fintech, healthcare and manufacturing, spanning functions such as strategy, finance, marketing, general management, product management, operations and analytics. 

Top recruiters include Boston Consulting Group (25), TCS Management Consulting (24), Bain & Company (17), McKinsey & Company (14), PwC (16) and Accenture Strategy (75). 

The Student Placement Committee mentioned that this placement season carried out with the highest batch in any IIM saw a high degree of participation by both first-time and legacy recruiters with more than 30% of them being first-time recruiters. Out of the top B-schools in India IIM Bangalore also received the maximum offers over 100 in the Lateral Placement Process (for candidates with over 18 months of work experience). This year is a testament to the institute's good reputation in the business and the immense trust employers have in the students of IIM Bangalore. 

Prof. Nishant Kumar Verma, who is the chairperson of Career Development Services and faculty of the Production & Operations Management area, gave a speech on the placement process. He said that IIM Bangalore conducted the placement process efficiently despite the difficult job market on a global scale. He shared with enthusiasm and happiness that IIM Bangalore has achieved a new benchmark in grabbing the job offers made this year. This is in terms of the number of offers and the diversity of roles across sectors. He shared his experience of building a collaborative relationship with existing and new companies. 

Head of Career Development Services Tapas Ranjan Pati emphasized that this success is due to the dedication of Bangalore Career Development Services and the Student Placement Committee. Global leaders shared positive feedback for the student’s performance and the placement process.

Consulting (245 offers) 

The maximum number of offers were made in the Consulting department. Students received 245 offers from 32 leading firms. Bain and Company, hired 17 students while Boston Consultancy Group hired 25 students from the batch of 2023-2025 from IIM Bengaluru. Accenture Strategy recruited 75 individuals fir final placement. 

PwC, one of the best five corporates, hired 16 students followed by McKinsey and Company, which recruited 14 students. 24 students were selected by TCS Management Consulting firm.

Other leading consulting firms are Samagra Consulting, Strategy & India, Showtime Consulting, EY India, Simon-Kucher & Partners, Deloitte, Practus Advisors, Strategy& Middle East, Alvarez & Marsal, ATCI, TransformationX, Vector Consulting, Takshashila Consulting, Tech Trust-Consultadd Group, ConsultAdd Services, EY Parthenon Singapore, GDI India, Arthur D. Little Kearney, KPMG, LEK Consulting, Oliver Wyman, KPMG, ISEG Foundation, PAC and Infosys Learning.

IT Software/Analytics/Product Management 

In IIM Bengaluru, 34 firms hired for Product Management, Analytics and the IT Software industry hired candidates. A total of 80 offers were made that included Google, Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe, Newgen Software, Cognizant, NeApp, Capgemini and Gyansys Infotech for the IT and Software industry. The companies hiring for Analytics were Cyware, EXL services,  Eighfold AI, E2open, Kreditbee. Other companies that recruited the young talent were KyN Hood, Pine Labs, Salesforce, ThoughtSpot, Trianz, UKG, Vinculum, Vmock, Xoriant, Accordion, Amagi Media Labs, Aurigo, BrowserStack, Capital One, ClearTax, Cloudfiles, Coforge and Cohesity.

Finance (79 offers were made in the finance sector) 

A remarkable placement record is set by IIM Bengaluru in the Finance, Banking, Investments sectors. The banks that hired students are HSBC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, IIFL Securities, Axis Bank, Bank of America and Deutsche Bank, CitiBank, Kotak Mahindra Bank. 


Out of the 41 firms that made an offer to IIM Bengaluru students, the top firms in finance are Kotak Mahindra Capital (IB), Manapuram Finance, JP Morgan Chase & Co., L&T Finance,Navi, o3 Capital, NatWest Group, EY India Investment Banking, Piramal Alternatives, D.E. Shaw, Power Finance Corporation, and Edelweiss Alternatives. A total of 79 offers were made from firms like CIFDAQ, Rothschild & Co., Universal Sompo, UTI AMC, Ambit, ARGA Investment Management, Avendus Capital, Bajaj Finserv,  Acuity Knowledge Partners, Barclays, BNP Paribas, Cholamandalam Finance, Coverfox, Credila and  DSP Asset Manager.

E-Commerce/Logistics/ Telecom/ Payment Platforms


A total of 70 graduates received an offer in the E commerce, Logistics, Telecom and Payment Platform companies. The companies that recruited for the logistics department are  DTDC Express, C DOT and American Express, which hired 20 students. For the payments sector, National Payments Corporation of India, Phonepe, Juspay and Visa recruited students. E-commerce platforms like Nykaa, Tesco India, Zomato, Flipkart, Swiggy, Ola and NoBroker hired professionals. Aitel conducted recruitment for telecom services. 

Manufacturing/Construction/Energy/Infrastructure (38 offers)

The companies that hired students for the Energy industry are Indian Oil, Suzlon Energy, ReNew Power. Other recruiters out of the 19 firms are Asian group, Samsung, KPIT Technologies, Sunrise Polymers, Rubber King, Rishi FIBC and scimplify, a chemical manufacturing firm for the manufacturing department. In the Infrastructure and construction industry, Lodha Ventures, Lodha group and Sobha Realty.

Healthcare/Education 

The recruiters made 23 offers in the Healthcare and education sector. Employers in the healthcare sector include Alkem Laboratories, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Haleon, Health City Cayman Islands, Optum, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Initiatives for Development Foundation, and IIM Bangalore (Indian Institute of Management Bangalore) eX initiative.

FMCG and Retail 

For FMCG and Retail Industry, 37 offers from 16 firms were made to the students. For FMCG, the firms include Ab InBev, Amul, Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages, P&G, Olam Food Ingredients, Modelez, Heinz, ITC,  Kraft and Marico. In the Retail Industry, the top recruiters like Diageo, Pidilite, Wipro Phillip Morris International and par empire hired students.
