The two-week orientation at IMI Bhubaneswar is more than academic. It centres on leadership with a conscience, academic discipline and industry interaction. The course is specifically designed to provide a combination of classroom preparedness, ethical foundation and personal development.

At the welcome address Professor P.C. Biswal, Director of IMI Bhubaneswar asked students to view their PGDM experience as a process rather than a means to placements.
