The program permits students of engineering to pursue a one-year diploma in business administration from IIMV alongside pursuing their BTech or MTech course. After completing the program, students can choose to continue in hybrid mode for a second year in order to pass the complete MBA degree exam. PGPMCI in line with the National Education Policy 2020 aims at creating techno-managerial competence to address industry needs without reliance on CAT tests.  Among the partner institutions are IIIT Kurnool, IIIT Senapati, NIT Warangal and NIT Tadepalligudem.

The latest addition is IIIT Senapati in Manipur which has signed an official MoU to become a member. IIMV director Prof. M. Chandrasekhar said that IIM Vizag offers PGPMCI trainees priority internship opportunities, thus enhancing experiential learning. By pursuing this course concurrently with their engineering education students will gain a unique techno managerial perspective that blends technical knowledge and management acumen.

This two pronged strategy equips students not only to respond to technical questions posed by recruiters but also to effectively tackle business and strategic challenges during placements, thereby providing them with a clear competitive edge said Prof Chandrasekhar.

IIIT Senapati director Prof. Krishnan Baskar welcomed the tie-up, attributing it to increased interest among students to pursue management studies. PGPMCI is particularly useful as it enables students to integrate technical expertise and managerial capabilities in the initial phase of their careers. Initiatives like start up grants would give graduates a certain edge in the job market, said Prof. Baskar.

Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty, the dean  of academics of IIMV described the institution's mission to educate and nourish entrepreneurial leaders.
