IIM Udaipur's 14th Cohort of MBA Students Sets Out on a Transformative Journey

The day's honoured guest was Professor Ashok Banerjee, Director of IIM Udaipur. The important guest of the ceremony was The New India Assurance Company Limited’s CMD Mrs. Girija Subramanian. She has worked in reinsurance divisions for 34 years in a variety of industries, including property, life, health and aviation. Subramanian was CMD of AIC of India in the beginning of September 2022, prior to becoming CMD of New India Assurance.

Mrs. Girija Subramanian said that applicants view their MBA experience not as a vehicle for academic excellence alone but as a way to become leaders of character, purpose and resilience. Applicants have to learn managerial tools and exercise real-world judgement. Learn to embrace discomfort for it is the route to growth. Let their ambition match the nation's aspirations. When their aspirations overlap with India's destiny, they don't just build a career; they create history.

Three main lessons were left by Professor Vijayta Doshi, Dean of Programs at IIM Udaipur: unlock, uplift and be unstoppable. She encouraged students to become all they could be by exploring the depth and breadth of learning to empower themselves and others through collaborative, meaningful interaction and peer learning and to perpetuate IIM Udaipur's 'Unstoppable' spirit as they begin their journey on transformation.

Professor Ujjwal Das who is chairperson of Two-Year MBA Program at IIM Udaipur, urged the incoming batch to make the most of both the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead. He emphasised that developing critical thinking skills and intellectual curiosity are crucial for developing leaders.

Professor Ashok Banerjee, Director of IIM Udaipur expressed gratitude to the students and invited them to an experience of change at one of India's best business schools. He spoke of the newly redesigned curriculum, designed specifically to offer a novel and efficient learning experience. Professor Banerjee stressed the various backgrounds of the incoming class and invited students to build strength, improve problem-solving, and take full advantage of all that IIMU has to offer.

He implored students to stay dynamic, interested, and actively engaged on their path of learning, advancing from passive learning to becoming critical thinkers and active participants within the classroom. Ask questions, be active and make the most of your time here, he advised, stressing that this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience in personal and professional growth.

Professor Banerjee also elaborated on the reasons why students choose IIM Udaipur among other institutions based on the world-class faculty, vibrant campus life, strong alumni community, well-designed curriculum from day one and high industry interaction that blends theory and practice.

He concluded by underlining the institute's core values and urging students to apply and internalise three core principles: technology, innovation, and sustainability. These foundations, he continued, are pivotal in becoming effective leaders who can bring about significant change in an ever-changing global world.
