What is the SMP?

The SMP is a 12-month program aimed at professionals with a minimum of 10 years' work experience. It consists of three significant modules that include leadership, business management, financial strategy, global business, people management, profit and sustainability. It addresses a total of over 16 significant business subjects to enable professionals to assume senior leadership roles.

Previous batches have featured professionals from various fields such as IT, banking, engineering, HR, R&D, hospitality, retail and others. The participants have typically been in senior roles like Vice President, General Manager or Head of Department. More than half of them had over 15 years of experience which makes the learning atmosphere extremely collaborative.

Why This Program Matters

A two-year research study conducted by IIM Nagpur and BetterUp found that most firms are not well-led and do not spend sufficient resources on leadership development. A study by Harvard Business Review also stated that leadership programs frequently fail to hit the target by failing to align with practical requirements or applicability.

Learning Format and Benefits

The SMP employs a hybrid pedagogy involving live online classes, real business cases, role-plays, group projects and simulations. Students also get to spend three days on the campus of IIM Nagpur where they will work on group projects, do assignments and network with fellow students.

Every participant has one-on-one mentorship sessions with members of the faculty to ensure they develop professionally. Upon successful completion of the course and fulfilment of attendance requirements, students will receive a Certificate of Completion and Executive Alumni Status from IIM Nagpur.
