Despite the growing number of women joining the workforce very few are moving into senior leadership roles. Reports show that only 34% of senior roles globally are held by women while in India the figure has improved from 17% in 2017 to 28% in 2024. IIM Calcutta’s initiative seeks to bridge this gap through mentorship, skill development and leadership training. The TLPWE program provides a supportive and collaborative learning space for women professionals to reflect, network and grow. It focuses on leadership identity, digital transformation, communication and emotional intelligence helping participants build confidence and lead effectively. Professor Nimruji Prasad Jammulamadaka of IIM Calcutta elaborated that the program aims to encourage women to think about their leadership experiences and develop qualities such as storytelling, critical thinking and digital agility. Dr Nandita Roy further elucidated that with increasing number of women entering leadership positions such programs become crucial in equipping them with the capabilities and confidence required to lead in a global business landscape. The course has nine modules spread across topics such as Women in Management, Strategic Communication, Digital Transformation and Legal and HR Perspectives. The participants will also complete a Capstone Project and have two campus immersion sessions at IIM Calcutta. Classes are conducted online through TimesPro platform with real-time faculty interaction. The program uses case studies, group projects and simulations to ensure practical learning. Upon successful completion participants are awarded with a certificate from IIM Calcutta and become members of its Executive Education Alumni community. Candidates should possess a recognised bachelor degree or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks and a minimum of five years of professional experience. The program also welcomes women entrepreneurs and high-potential corporate nominees.Filling the Leadership Gap
