The new centre will focus on training, teaching and research dissemination in the case method of learning. It will train faculty members to become proficient case method teachers, fund case development and provide research assistance and editorial support and also arrange conferences, workshops and short-term Faculty Development Programs. Case pedagogy research will be an important area of its activities as well.

Professor Saral Mukherjee who is the Chairperson of Centre explained that the goal is to enable young faculty members and doctoral students to frame effective learning experiences for prospective management students.

IIMA Director Professor Bharat Bhasker noted that IIMA had the unique distinction of introducing the case method of learning in India and this has developed leaders who think critically and take challenges from multiple angles. He further noted that the new centre will enhance innovation in case pedagogy, provide openings for interaction and faculty development and act as a centre for research in this area. He also thanked Madan Mohanka for his role in enabling this.

The Centre hosted a symposium titled ‘Case Method in 2025: Taking Stock and Moving Forward’ before the inauguration.
