Raw Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 4) – (Number of Incorrect Answers × 1)

How is the CUET PG MBA 2026 Percentile Calculated?

The percentile score in CUET PG 2026 represents the relative performance of the candidate in comparison to all the other candidates who took the examination. The marks of all candidates are standardised to a scale of 0 to 100 marks for all sessions of the examination.

The percentile score represents the percentage of candidates who have achieved equal to or lower marks in that session of the examination.

Hence, it is clear that the candidate who secures the highest marks in any session of the examination will be assigned a percentile of 100. The percentile score is used as a normalised score for preparing the merit list in place of the raw marks of the candidate.

Normalisation Process and Result Preparation - Explained Simply

Since CUET PG 2026 is conducted in multiple sessions, the normalisation process is used by the NTA to ensure fair comparison of scores. This is how the entire process is conducted -

Step 1 - Distribution of Candidates Across Sessions

The candidates are randomly distributed across two or more sessions in a way that there is almost an equal number of candidates in each session. If the test is conducted for many or if the number of sessions is fewer, the distribution is done accordingly. This random distribution is done to ensure that there is no bias in the distribution of the candidates across the sessions or the shifts. Since there is a large number of candidates across different exam centres the bias is very minimal.

Step 2 - Preparation of Results for Each Session

After the exam is conducted, the results for each session are prepared in the following two forms -

  • Raw Scores - the actual marks obtained by the candidate based on the marking scheme

  • Percentile Scores - calculated for each candidate in each session based on their total raw score. The percentile score for the total raw score of a candidate in a session is referred to as TP1.

Step 3 - Compilation of NTA Score and Final Result

The percentile score calculated based on the total raw score computed for all sessions such as Session One (Day 1 and Shift 1) and Session Two (Day 1 and Shift 2) is merged and computed into the final score which is termed the NTA Score. The final compilation of results is based on the NTA score which is used to determine the merit list and the seats allocated at the universities that participated in the examination.
