What is AP ICET MBA Exam?

AP ICET AP is an entrance examination that is carried out by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE). This exam is intended to select candidates for admission to MBA courses offered by universities in Andhra Pradesh. It assesses the analytical ability of candidates, language skills and basic mathematics.

Section A - Analytical Ability (75 Questions)

This section of the AP ICET MBA syllabus includes data sufficiency and problem solving skills.

1. Data Sufficiency (20 Questions)

A question followed by two statements (i) and (ii) is provided. Candidate should be able to choose whether he/she needs either one statement or both or nothing at all to answer the question.

  • Select Option 1 - If statement (i) alone is sufficient while statement (ii) is not sufficient to answer the question.

  • Select Option 2 - If statement (ii) alone is sufficient while statement (i) is not sufficient to answer the question.

  • Select Option 3 - If both statements are needed to answer the question.

  • Select Option 4 - If both statements are insufficient for answering the question.

2. Problem Solving (55 Questions)

The problem-solving section includes four topics as follows - 

a) Sequences and Series

  • Patterns involving numbers/alphabetical sequence

  • Spotting the odd one out

  • Finding the missing term in a series

b) Data Analysis

  • Analysing information provided in a table/bar graph/pie chart/ Venn diagram/some text passage

  • Answer questions based on the analysed data.

c) Coding and Decoding

  • Coding/Decoding scheme provided based on alphabetical sequence in the English language

  • Use of the provided scheme to coded or decoded some letters/words.

d) Date, Time and Arrangement Problems

  • Questions based on the calendar and/or clock 

  • Blood relation questions

  • Schedule-related questions

  • Arrangement-related questions like seating arrangements

Section B - Communication Ability (70 Questions)

This section of the AP ICET exam syllabus evaluates your English proficiency in the use of grammar in day-to-day life as well as in a business context.

1. Vocabulary (15 Items)

Ordinary vocabulary used in day-to-day conversations including their meanings, usage, synonyms etc.

2. Functional Grammar (20 Items)

Grammar used in ordinary conversation as well as in business contexts including the use of tenses and the structure of sentences etc.

3. Business and Computer Terminology (15 Items)

  • Basic terminology and concepts related to computers

  • Different types of documents used for business purposes such as letters, reports, memoranda, agendas and meeting minutes

4. Reading Comprehension (20 Items)

  • Understand the content of the passage provided

  • Answering questions based on the information given in the passage

Section C - Mathematical Ability (55 Questions)

The numerical ability of the candidate is examined in this part of the test.

  • Logical reasoning includes statements, truth tables, implication, converse, inverse and tautology

  • Sets, Relations, Algebra and Functions

  • Trigonometric ratios, standard angles (0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 90°, 180°), trigonometric identities, heights and distances

  • Polynomial expressions and the remainder theorem

  • Linear equations and expressions

  • Arithmetic Progression, Binomial Theorem, Matrix

  • Plane geometry including straight line, triangle, quadrilateral and circle

FAQs

There are 200 multiple-choice questions in the AP ICET exam where each question holds one mark. The total marks allotted in the examination are 200.

The allotted duration to finish the APICET exam is 150 minutes.

No negative marking does not exist in the APICET exam pattern Therefore, since no marks are reduced for any incorrect answer candidates are suggested to attempt all the questions.

There are three sections in AP ICET 2026 which include Section A Analytical Ability which consists of 75 questions, Section B Communication Ability section comprises 70 questions and Section C Mathematical Ability includes 55 questions.

The AP ICET 2026 syllabus PDF contains the Analytical Ability section carries maximum weightage i.e. 37.5% while the Communication Ability and Mathematical Ability sections carry 35% and 27.5% respectively.
